Laboni Saha

Hailing from India, Laboni Saha is the creative mind behind the design-led womenswear label L Saha. An alumnus of the London College of Fashion, she has also pursued an MA in Fashion Business Management at the University of Westminster.

She has worked with names including British labels Georgia Hardinge and Izmaylova and Indian designers Gaurav Gupta and Little Shilpa. After years of experience in buying, Laboni decided to establish her eponymous label L Saha in January 2013.

Spring/Summer ‘14 marks the launch of the brand and Laboni will be showcasing her first collection at Couture Fair from 7th -9th June 2013. Her prêt line will be available for buyers from June 2013 onwards.

The clothing

The philosophy behind the brand is to create high quality and beautiful lines out of natural raw materials. L Saha’s uniqueness also lies in the use of traditional crafts that are unconventional to the modern world of fashion.

A poetess at heart, Laboni finds inspiration in various states of human mind and levels of contrasting emotions. Her love of nature and concern for ecological issues are also reflected in her designs. Her first collection is named “Emouvoir” ‘and consists of a range of flawlessly crafted dresses, separates and accessories.

What she says

“It’s something that you can have in your wardrobe, something you can afford, but it’s still not entirely machine-made. There’s a lot of hand work. There’s a lot of personal involvement in the production of these pieces.”
